The Dawn of a New Age & The Last Gasps of a Dying Fish

So many people are reacting to the energy shifts that are happening lately, I thought I would write a blog to help clarify what it all means. Yes, I know there are many, many people out there who are trying to proclaim their version of current events to be the Truth, but they too are merely puppets in the grand scheme of the cosmic shift that is happening right now. I would like to explain it from an astrological perspective, as what is happening now is really just an overlap between two ages, the old age of Pisces and the new age of Aquarius. Hopefully after reading this you might gain a clearer understanding of the energies and so be able to be riders on the storm rather than floundering fish.

The Age of Pisces & Virgo: The Prophet & The Virgin

First, let me explain the energies of of Pisces. Pisces rules things like mystery, faith, spirituality, martyrs, sacrifice, messiahs, prophets, unity with god, medium abilities (the ability to channel spirits), ghosts, fear, death, the afterlife, dreams, intuition, magic, prayer and miracles. Ruled by the planet Neptune, the planet of dreams and magical abilities, the sign of Pisces is a mutable water sign; meaning that of all the signs, Pisces has the ability to “go with the flow” more than any other. It is also a sign ruled by negative, feminine energy, which combines with the mutable quality to create an extremely passive energy, just about as non-aggressive as they come. The energies of the 12th house are also native to Pisces, the house of secrets, sorrows, death and regret, as well as institutions, the occult and mysticism. Pisces’ ultimate wish is to escape this mortal coil and re-merge with the universal energy, to reach heaven, nirvana or paradise by becoming one with God, one with pure Spirit.

Every age is co-ruled by its opposite sign, in the case of Pisces, it’s Virgo that comes along for the ride. Virgo is the sign of the virgin, purity, cleanliness, daily ritual, simplicity, duty, service, self-sacrifice, submission, marriage, worry, anxiety, manners, refinement, diet, health, and domesticated animals, especially pets. Ruled by Mercury and the 6th house, Virgo resonates with the energy of organization, habit, medicine, and all other exacting and precise energies dealing with matters of a mundane or practical nature. Being an earth sign of mutable energy, Virgo is a pacifistic sign which is very attached to the land. In fact, Virgo’s ultimate goal energetically is to merge back into mother Earth, to re-crystallize back into the rock, return to the soil, dust to dust.

The energies of Virgo and Pisces are both mutable, feminine and negative, that is they are more Yin in their energy, more passive and receptive, rather than active and aggressive like the Yang or masculine/positive energy. These two signs also number among the four dual signs, the other two being Gemini and Sagittarius. The dual signs tend to have a “this or that” “us or them” “all or nothing” “black or white” “good or evil” kind of energy. Due to the split between the earthly, practical matters of Virgo and the purely spirit focused nature of Pisces, this age has been one of separation between matters of the body and those of the spirit.

The Age of Aquarius & Leo: The Everyman & The Superstar

Aquarius, sign of invention, acceptance, imagination, clairvoyance, astrology, the sciences, space travel, chaos, anarchy, revolution, old age, senility, second childhood, genius, the future, wonder, exploration, experimentation, curiosity, truth, transparency, individuality and eccentricity. The native house of Aquarius is the 11th, house of equality, community and altruism. Ruled by Uranus and co-ruled by Saturn, Aquarius is an interesting mix of influences. Uranus, the planet of chaos, change, flashes of genius and inspiration, tends to encourage the more chaotic and revolutionary aspects of the sign, while Saturn, ruler of discipline, responsibility and the Father, weighs more heavily upon the impetuosity of the otherwise tyrannical energies of Aquarius, helping to keep the sign from diving headlong over the edge of the cliffs of insanity. But at its most sane, Aquarius’ ideals are very noble in seeking to unite mankind in a spirit of universal friendship and community.

In the case of the age of Aquarius, the sign of Leo is the companion energy. Ruled by the Sun, Leo is the King of the astrological wheel. Sign of royalty, nobility, fame, gold, money, pomp, theater, the arts, actors, dancers, painters, sculptors, sexuality, procreation, adolescence, power, autocracy, dictators, fascism, dominance, courage, bravery, loyalty, flashy smiles and great hair; Leo is the sign of the superstar. The 5th house, to which Leo is native, rules creativity, sex, and young love, encouraging youth obsession and materialism as well as artistic expression and hedonism. Leo rules the heart, both physical and energetic and at its highest, Leo represents unconditional Love, the ability to love without judgment.

Aquarius and Leo are both fixed signs, which unlike the mutable energy of Pisces and Virgo, creates a much more solid, unmovable energy. Add this to the fact that Aquarius and Leo are also Yang, positive and male signs and we can begin to see quite a different balance to these aspects than between the energies of the old age. Neither Leo or Aquarius are a dual sign, however, the multiple personality of Aquarius is pitted against the narcissism of Leo which creates a much more dynamic interplay than the simple back and forth of the dual signs. Instead of two options which are rather equally weighted, we now have innumerable choices all trying to outbid each other for our attention. Instead of the classic Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde, this is more of a “United States of Tara” or multiple personality disorder situation in which all of the egotistical personalities think they’re the only one who deserves any attention at all.

The Age of Transition: The Rapture & The Storm

This creates a great amount of tension between the four signs, which is felt most strongly in the matters that each sign rules. For example, television is an invention (aquarius) using actors (leo). The complaints are that television is naughty, dirty and inappropriate (virgo) and that it takes us away from the more important matters of spirit (pisces). Another significant energetic collision that I find interesting is with the company Monsanto, who are experimenting (aquarius) with crops to create a profit (leo). The complaint is that the purity of the plants is being violated (virgo) which could effect our health (virgo) and that Monsanto is keeping things secret (pisces) from the public and that the public has a right to the truth (aquarius). Revolution in general is ruled by Aquarius, but so too is terrorism, which is the direct opposite to the dictatorial energy of Leo. With Al-Quaeda we can again see an argument happening between the two ages, an organized religion (pisces) commits acts of terror in rebellion (aquarius) against an overbearing government (leo) who they believe is seeking to sully the purity of their faith and culture (virgo). On the side of the U.S., the belief is that the noble government (leo) is trying to spread freedom (aquarius) to the impure savages (virgo) who believe in the sovereignty of the wrong prophet (pisces). There are many more examples I could make, but I hope you can see my point from these few that the four disparate points of view create quite a spectacle when thrown into the same ring together.

The energies of the ages do not only affect humans, they also affect the planet. The age of Pisces and Virgo, with its earth-friendly energies of water and earth, was a time of relative quiet upon the planet. But bring in the combustible energy of Leo the fire sign and the gusty wind and chaos of Aquarius the Uranus-ruled air sign, mix it together with earth and water energy and you have pretty much every natural disaster known to man. Between natural disasters and constant clashes of power vs. revolution among human beings, this age of transition has indeed been a turbulent ride so far.

The Power of Transformation: The Horror & The Glory

With all of these astral powers fighting for our attention, it’s easy to get caught up in the storm of change and just run with the destructive energies because they resonate so strongly within us. On top of the centuries of dualitstic programming that have caused us to judge and classify the things and people in our world, we have these new, different and alluring vibrations that are saying that we are all equal, it’s all good and that anything we can imagine is possible. Going forward, the energy of Pisces and Virgo will dissipate more and more until they are hardly felt and they disappear completely. After 1970, the tides shifted over from the dominant energies being Pisces and Virgo to the newer energies of Aquarius and Leo. The planet is just starting to pull itself out of this most turbulent time of any transition, the moment when the new power takes over and the loss of that power is first felt by the passing age. This loss of power has cause a surge in desperate acts by those who aligned best with the energies of the Piscean age, in this case Islam and Christianity have been causing some of the worst trouble. With their militant aggression and hatred against anyone who would rise against them and constant proclamations of rapture and judgment, they are symbolic of the last gasps of a dying fish, flopping, gasping and making quite a fuss rather than fading quietly out of sight.

We are faced with one question: How best to harness the chaotic vibrations of the present moment and keep them from overwhelming us with their caustic interactions? The age of transition, which is not truly one age or another, is very special in its own right, especially in this case when moving from Pisces to Aquarius. The shift backwards from the death of Pisces to the late-life of Aquarius creates a kind of near death experience energy, which feels quite profound to us all. The mystery and secrets which were a hallmark of the previous age are giving way to the wonder and transparent truth of the Aquarian age and this energy shift feels like an awakening or rebirth to mankind. The veil of duality is being lifted and we are beginning to see all of the glorious colors of a brilliant rainbow, rather that the black and white we were accustomed to in the previous age. As we move more into the new age, terms like good & evil or right & wrong will lose their power, being replaced with broader terms and categories which will embrace all shades and hues rather than trying to fit everything into only two boxes. There is less seriousness in the air from Virgo and more of a playful attitude being introduced by Leo, lightening the burden mankind has been carrying for so long.

Embracing the ideals of acceptance and community will combat the forces of isolation, judgment and denial, helping us to remember that our differences are just on the surface and they have no deeper meaning or significance. The reality is that there is no right or wrong, good or bad, us or them. There is only the truth from my perspective, take away individual perspective and everything becomes Truth. Introduce positive thinking into your life to combat the pessimism of dying Virgo, remove “should”, “supposed to” and “ought to” from your vocabulary, knowing that these rules of propriety will be useless in the new age and are only acting as roadblocks to you now. The magic of the old age was contained within daily devotion and supplication leading to ecstatic transcendence and unity with God through death. The new magic is contained in love and acceptance of self, which is then transmuted into love and acceptance for all humankind.

In the tempest of the newly born Aquarian age, the true power lies within the eye of the storm at the center of the sun. Focus your energy on developing your center or point of balance, from which you can operate most effectively in this age of conflict. Get to know yourself without judgment and lovingly embrace everything you find within yourself. When you can embrace and accept yourself completely for exactly who you are in this moment, then your heart chakra can open up to lovingly embrace and accept all of humankind. If you know where your center is and how to exist peacefully within it, the ability to see and harness the opportunities available to you will come more naturally, as well as the ability to avoid getting unnecessarily caught up in the argument between the ages. My hopes in writing this is to shed a little more light onto the reality of what is happening right now in the world and hopefully dispel some of the confusion that is so palpable these days. Best wishes on your journey into yourself, see you on the other side!
